Thank you for picking me to participate in the Fruit Cake Challenge, Pastor Beau.  This has been a great week so far….  I have gripped the fruit of patience and self control several times while traveling in the car.  I am easing off the gas a bit and allowing people to pass instead of cutting them off.  Yeah, that’s me . . . a road rage lunatic.   By the way, I am currently taking some survival courses and trainings.  If you have ever seen Man vs. Wild on Discovery or Suvivorman shows, that is basically what I am learning in my free time.  I am hoping that in the next year I will be ready to spend 5 days in the Blue Ridge Mts. only with a knife.  It may seem crazy but it will be a fun adventure with Christ.  My goal in learning this is to be able to pass the teaching along. With Gods will I would like to lead a group of young men in a fellowship excursion learning to use what Christ has provided us in the Bush to survive and rely on him to provide the food and shelter.

I was honored to be chosen by Pastor Beau in the 11:30 service to kick off the first leg of the CBC Fruitcake Challenge!  I placed the fruitcake in my office on the corner of my desk and used its presence as an opportunity to share its purpose and message with everyone who inquisitively asked “Why do you have a fruitcake on your desk - those things taste awful”!  It served as a constant reminder for me to faithfully follow the principles for which it stands no matter what the situation or circumstance.  It afforded me the opportunity to share my testimonial about what God has done in my life and how he continues to bestow bountiful blessings on me, DeLynne and Gabrielle.

I had the cake from 12/30/07-1/6/08 and then passed it on to Tony Smith. I placed the cake at my computer desk and it was a great constant reminder that my mission is to bear fruit.
